Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A major case of fraud in the name of electricity connections has been uncovered in Bidhannagar, near Kolkata. Kaushik Pal has been arrested by the police on charges of cheating people in the name of electricity connections. During the investigation into Pal's bank transactions, it was discovered that a transaction of Rs. 32 crores 81 lakh 99 thousand had been made in his account. When asked to provide proof of the transaction, Pal was unable to do so, leading to his arrest.
The police will present Pal in court and request custody. The case involves a message box link that resulted in the loss of Rs. 40940 after being clicked. After receiving a complaint about this incident, the Bidhan Nagar Cyber Branch traced the link and arrested Kaushik Pal from Kasba Tagore Park.
On September 22, 2022, Ratanlal Aggarwal, a resident of Salt Lake, complained that he had received a call asking him to deactivate an insurance premium, and a link was provided in the message for this purpose. When Aggarwal clicked on the link, he lost around Rs. 40940. Following the complaint, the police arrested Kaushik Pal, and further investigation led to the discovery of a transaction of around Rs. 33 crores. When asked about the source of income, Pal was unable to provide any information.
The Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station has registered a case, suspecting that the current account in question was opened for use in criminal activities.
